Join me for a Jewish Ancestor ritual during Hanukkah

A place where we can grapple spiritually and somatically with the complexity of our survival: the militarism and fundamentalism that has been part of our peoplehood and that are embedded in the Hanukkah story. The forces of assimilation and repression, empire and domination that we have successfully defended ourselves against. We will grapple with the legacy of what it means to survive as Jews and the moral compromises our people have made in order to do so.

Friday December 8th, 6-10p, at a small temple in Cottage Grove
This will be Shabbat / 2nd Night of Hanukkah. This is by donation, give as you are inspired.

We will tap into the ancestor realm to offer healing for our ancestors who have struggled to survive, our ancestors who have grappled with assimilation, our ancestors who held a vision of justice for all.

This ritual will include Jewish as well as shamanic rituals using the tools of shabbat and hanukkah, ganja, somatic work, breath, song, and guided meditation as portals into connection with our Jewish ancestors. Bring a menorah, ancestor altar items, instruments, magical tools, etc.

We won't be talking about assimilation and fundamentalism, militarism and self-defense, we will be feeling the way these legacies live in our bodies. We will be moving through these tensions, sending resilience to our ancestors and descendants, and offering resilience to each other and ourselves.

The max number of participants is 14, so this will be an intimate space to dance and shake and cry and sing together.

I'd love to see you there! Space is limited; RSVP to [email protected] by December 1st.

Hi there! I'm Kalil 🧜‍♂️ (ze/they)

I am a shape shifter, a magical genderqueer being. I am a Jewish Priestexx, helping connect us to our ancestors and descendants.

I am the grandchild of Holocaust survivors raised within a tightknit Jewish community, steeped in avoidant attachment and dissociation as our coping strategies for the trauma of repeated genocide during thousands of years of Diaspora. We also channeled the joy of our Jewish rituals, humor, and community to cope.

And so, forged in this fire, I bring gifts of somatic healing as a practice of liberation, as a tool for time travel to heal old traumas lodged in our bodies, and as a place of play and delight. We are Magicians with incredible power to heal ourselves, our communities, and our world.
